AKA Takes Back Ownership Of The Braai Show With Cassper Set To Lose His Job

Today, the South African courts decided to give AKA back his ownership rights of the Braai Show, a cook-a-telly show that has been running on SABC 1.

This comes after more than a year-long court battle between AKA and MakhuduCom.

MakhuduCom and SABC 1 took over ownership of the cook-show and changed its name to The Braai Show With Cass back in August of 2021 after the death of AKA’s fiancee Nelly Tembe.

The TV station had earlier claimed 100% intellectual property ownership rights of the show which they later gave to AKA’s nemesis, Cassper Nyovest.

The show was supposed to be a theatrical celebration of Mzansi stars on television as they addressed their fans through a braai session with the host, Kiernan Forbes – also known as AKA.

AKA maintained that he was still the owner of the show.

He claimed that he came up with the concept and by bringing in his rivalry Cassper Nyovest on the show without his consent, Makhudu and SABC 1 were breaching the agreement they earlier had.

His fight through the courts has finally paid off after a year if his recent Instagram post is anything to go by.

“This morning, justice was finally served I received confirmation of what I have always said: That I own the Braai Show,” he said while announcing the news on Monday.

“Now that the arbitration proceedings have determined, with finality, that I own half of The
Braai Show, I will be going after what is rightfully mine against those that sought to exploit and
undermine my creativity and intellectual property,” he said.
